A Lufthansa AVRO RJ aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on 8 August 2004 after experiencing mechanical problems shortly before landing.
The aircraft, on a flight from Frankfurt to Austria, made a successful emergency landing at Graz Thalerhof airport in the southern Styria province of Austria after the pilot reported a problem with both the elevator and the rudder.
A spokesperson for the airport said that the pilot circled the airport for about 40 minutes before touching down safely using alternative landing systems. None of the 56 passengers were injured in the incident, reports The Associated Press.
