Informational pickets were planned for Chicago's O'Hare International Airport today (10 December) from 11.00 to 14.00 local time.
The pickets were set up by American Eagle flight attendants, members of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, who chose the action to voice disapproval at a continued lack of a new contract.
According to the union, American Eagle flight attendants have to work 14-16 hour duty days, with schedules not including bathroom or meal breaks, with unsanitary working conditions and eight-hour "rest" periods that include passenger handling, aircraft cleaning and commuting to and from the hotel.
The flight attendants said in a press statement that they have been negotiating for more than four years to get a fair contract.
