American Airlines said on Thursday (9 December) that it had increased most of its fares on US domestic flights and on services from the US to Canada.

One-way fares have been raised by USD5 and round-trip fares have gone up by USD10.

The increase is designed to help the airline offset the continuing high cost of jet fuel. American Airlines said that each rise of USD0.01 in the price of a gallon of jet fuel costs the company more than USD30m per year.
