Airport workers and airline crews are to be checked against the US government's controversial watch lists under new legislation passed last week.
A provision in the intelligence bill passed by Congress requires the crews of commercial flights and cruise ships to be compared against the lists of terror suspects and people who require additional scrutiny for another reason.
In addition airport workers will have to be checked against the terrorist watch list before they are allowed to go unescorted past security checkpoints or on the tarmac, reports The Associated Press.
