Computer Associates International has announced that US low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines has selected CA's AllFusion, BrightStor and Unicenter mainframe management solutions to replace a combination of mainframe products from other vendors.

The selection of CA solutions is reportedly part of Southwest Airlines' strategy to focus its IT procurement on a limited number of vendors, which is expected to help the airline streamline its operations, improve resource utilization, avoid paying for redundant functionality, and integrate its business systems.

Financial details were not disclosed.
