Scottish low-cost carrier flyglobespan has ordered three firm Boeing 737-800 Blended Winglet Systems with options for a further 47 systems.
The first order of Performance Enhancing Blended Winglets is to be installed, post-delivery, in March, April and May 2005 and the options reportedly provide for Blended Winglet upgrades to future flyglobespan 737-NG series aircraft.
While flyglobespan is leasing the first three 737-800s, the company reportedly opted to buy the Blended Winglets. Boeing has said that the reason is that the payback of the Blended Winglets is compelling.
No financial details have been disclosed.
