Andres Conesa, the Mexican deputy undersecretary for public credit, has left the finance ministry to take up the post as chairman of the airline holding company Cintra.

Cintra said that its shareholders have agreed to name Conesa as the chairman of the board. The move is reportedly part of plans to merge Aeromexico and Mexicana de Aviacion into one company and to form a separate company that would link the two regional airlines Aeroliteral and Aerocaribe.

As a part of the plans the two new companies would then be sold to independent investors, Reuters reported.
