The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has said that it will hold an auction for the frequencies used for US aircraft broadband connections in 2005.

The auction will include the frequencies for broadband connections for domestic air traffic in the USA, reported the Swedish technology newspaper Ny Teknik.

Verizon Airfone, a telecommunications operator, has reportedly estimated that it would be able to offer onboard broadband access for USD10 for a three-hour journey.
