Singapore Airlines to offer onboard Internet in 2005

Singapore Airlines is to introduce in-flight broadband Internet access on its flights in 2005 using Boeing's Connexion system according to the airline.

The new service will be available on selected Singapore-London flights from the first quarter of 2005. A spokesperson for the airline said that it would be offering the Internet service on three Boeing 747-400 aircraft that have been equipped with wireless broadband capability and the service will be progressively spread across 40 aircraft.

Passengers will have to pay for the service, with unlimited access costing USD29.95 for flights over six hours, USD19.95 for under six hours and USD14.95 for flights under three hours. Singapore Airlines also plans to offer 'live' global television on board from the middle of 2005, reports AFP.
