Airport operator BAA must pay half of the compensation bill imposed on budget airline Ryanair for discriminating against a disabled man who was charged GBP18 (USD32) for using a wheelchair at an airport, a UK court ruled on Tuesday (21 December).

London's Court of Appeal ruled that Ryanair and Stansted Airport Ltd (STAL), a subsidiary of BAA, must each pay half of the GBP1,336 (USD2,603) compensation to Bob Ross, plus interest and legal costs, reports Reuters.

The decision is a partial success for Ryanair, which had challenged a previous ruling, according to which it had to pay the whole bill.
