AirAsia reports Q1 net profit of USD2.7m

Malaysian budget airline AirAsia has reported a net profit of MYR10.5m (USD2.7m) for the first quarter of its financial year.
The airline said that its revenue totalled MYR124.2m (USD32.6m) during the first quarter, ending 30 September. For the full financial year ending June 2005 AirAsia expects net profit to reach MYR159.9m (USD42m), said a statement issued for the Malaysian stock exchange.
In 2003 AirAsia carried 1.8m passengers, and an estimated 3.2m passengers this year. The carrier expects passenger numbers to rise to 6m in 2005.
