Republic to become Delta Connection partner

Republic Airlines, a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings Inc, has agreed to operate as a Delta Connection partner.

Under the terms of the agreement, which depends on the completion of a new codeshare agreement, Republic Airlines will acquire 16 new Embraer 170 70-passenger jets directly from the manufacturer beginning in mid-2005 and ending in mid-2006.

In addition Delta Air Lines is to receive warrants to purchase up to 960,000 shares of Republic stock for USD11.60 per share, reports The Associated Press.
