China Eastern Airlines has agreed to buy six Boeing 737-700 aircraft to help it meet the growing demand for air travel in China.
The first of the six 149-seater aircraft will be delivered in January 2006 with the final 737 arriving in August 2006. In an unusual move China Eastern revealed the amount it paid for the aircraft - CNY2bn or USD242m - a discount of up to 32%.
A spokesperson for the airline said that the new aircraft will help meet demand and also replace some of its older aircraft, reports Reuters.
