Struggling US-based low-cost carrier Independence Air has reportedly received an invitation from United Airlines to make a bid to operate some of its regional services.
A spokesman for Independence Air's parent company Flyi Inc has said that the company has discussed the issue with United Airlines.
Flyi was formerly known as Atlantic Coast Airlines and operated as a feeder carrier for United Airlines, but it ceased providing the services after United filed for bankruptcy.
A United Airlines spokesman said that Flyi was one of 12 companies from which the airline had solicited bids, reported The Associated Press.
