Hong Kong Express to acquire four Embraer aircraft

New Hong Kong-based airline Hong Kong Express Airways is to acquire four EMBRAER 170 76-seater aircraft from the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer.

The aircraft, which will be leased from GE Capital Aviation Services, will be delivered in 2005 and 2006 and according to the airline's CEO Andrew Tse will be used to provide multiple daily services between Hong Kong and cities in mainland China.

Hong Kong Express is spending USD100m on the new aircraft and the acquisition is part of the airline's plan to acquire two aircraft a year to help it service 12-15 destinations within the next five years. Embraer said that it was proud to have Hong Kong Express as a launch customer in Asia for its 170 series aircraft.
