Nabire Airport requires IDR9.5bn for repairs following earthquake

Nabire Airport, Indonesia reportedly requires IDR9.5bn to rebuild the airport following an earthquake.

Calculations by the Ministry of Communications show that IDR9.5bn is needed to restore the airport due to the severe quake damage. The most severe damage seen was cracks, between ten centimetres and 30 centimetres wide, along the whole surface of the runway. The control tower and terminal building were also severely damaged.

The earthquake occurred on 6 February 2004, and measured 6.9 on the Richter scale, reported The Associated Press.
