Denmark has reportedly placed an order with Setec, a Finnish technology group, for passports with new biometric technology.

The country has reportedly placed an order for three million passports with the new biometric technology, which is required by international aviation authorities and the US government. The passports will be made in Finland and personalised by Setec's Danish subsidiary near Copenhagen, Denmark. Deliveries of the passports are scheduled to begin in late 2004.

In 2003 the Danish government decided to adopt biometric passports starting in 2004, however passport holders will not have to switch until their current documents expire, according to The Associated Press.
