An EgyptAir aircraft flying from Abu Dhabi to Cairo, Egypt was ordered to divert to the nearest airport on Tuesday (24 February) after a bomb threat was received.

An anonymous caller telephoned Abu Dhabi airport authorities shortly after the flight had taken off, claiming that there were explosives on board.

The aircraft landed safely in Kuwait, where the 106 passengers and their luggage were searched. No explosives were found and the flight resumed its journey five hours later, reported Reuters.
