Finnish airline Finnair Plc said on Tuesday (24 February) that it would transfer the operations of the Finnair Ground Handling (FGH) business unit into a wholly owned subsidiary of Finnair Plc as of 1 May 2004.

Finnair's Swedish subsidiary FinnHandling AB, which had operated under the FGH business unit at Stockholm Arlanda airport, would at the same time become a subsidiary of the new company.

Finnair said that a more independent status for the FGH unit would improve opportunities for expanding the customer base for ground handling services and for providing services more flexibly to different customer segments.

The name of the new company would be announced when the necessary official authorizations have been obtained, Finnair said.
