Unions representing Air Canada's employees have rejected a request for talks with the airline's new equity investor, Trinity Time Investments Inc.
The company had asked to meet with the unions to discuss its plan to make changes to Air Canada's pension plan, switching it from a defined benefit plan to a defined contribution plan.
However the vice-president of Air Canada's machinists union said that the issue was not open for discussion, while a spokesman for the Air Canada Pilots Association said that employees had already made enough sacrifices to help the airline restructure under bankruptcy protection, reported Reuters.
