AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

American Airlines has almost completed its jet gate consolidation at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. By the end of February 2004 all jet and regional jet flights from the airport will depart from the C Concourse while AmericanConnection turboprop flights will depart from the B Concourse.

British Airways has reportedly become the first global airline to offer the MasterCard SecureCode e-commerce security solution across multiple regions. The solution provides enhanced protection for online bookings made on the British Airways web site by credit or debit card.

TransMeridian Airlines has signed an agreement with Sabre Travel Network that will enable its fares to be distributed through the Sabre global distribution system (GDS). Sabre Connected travel agents will now be able to make reservations through the Sabre GDS for the carrier's regular charter flights that are operated under the TransMeridian Airlines (T9) brand as Public Charter.

American Airlines has added a new AA Self-Service Check-In device at Southwest Florida International Airport. The service is available to American Airlines passengers flying to Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, St Louis and Miami. The airline said that with over 60% of its passengers using some form of automated check-in it will continue to invest in the facilities to improve efficiency and service.

The wife of a man who allegedly hijacked an aircraft in 1970 has been arrested in Japan for violating passport laws. The 51-year-old woman has lived in North Korea since her husband, a 55-year-old Red Army fugitive, allegedly forced a Japan Airlines aircraft to fly to the country.
