An investigation into the January 2003 crash of a US Airways Express flight at Charlotte-Douglas Airport, North Carolina has cited mechanical error as the cause.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is scheduled to meet today (26 February) to report its findings about the crash, which killed all 21 people on board. The aircraft's nose pitched sharply after takeoff, prompting the aircraft to stall then roll left and crash into a maintenance hangar.

Investigators are expected to point to flawed maintenance and improper weight distribution aboard the Beech 1900 commuter aircraft, operated by Air Midwest, reported The Associated Press.
