Singapore and the United Arab Emirates have signed an "open skies" agreement, which will allow more flights between the countries.

The pact is expected to increase the number of services between the two countries, with two UAE airlines, Etihad Airways and Air Arabia, expected to start operations to Singapore, while Gulf Air may expand operations to Changi. The carriers will be in direct competition with Singapore Airlines.

The agreement was signed today (26 February), reported Reuters.
