Ryanair announces further cost cutting measures to its aircraft
Airline Industry Information, Feb 26, 2004
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
European budget airline Ryanair has announced further changes to its aircraft in order to cut costs.
The airline will dispense with the aircraft window blinds, reclining seats, Velcro-anchored headrest covers and the seat pockets where a safety notice and free magazines are stored. The required safety notices will now be stitched to the back of each seat. The carrier has also decided to switch to leather upholstery as it lasts longer and is easier and cheaper to clean.
The changes will apply to the airline's new Boeing 737 aircraft and are expected to save Ryanair costs in the purchase price and maintenance, reported The Associated Press.
