China to announce details of air services plan

Smaller Chinese carriers may be given rights to international routes under a liberalisation of air services.

The minister of the Civil Aviation Administration is expected is reveal details of the plan today (15 January). The plan would provide China's second-tier airlines - such as Shenzhen Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines - with permission to operate international routes.

The plan also includes liberalising access by foreign airlines to mainland cities, reported The Associated Press.
