Continental Airlines flight makes emergency landing

A Continental Airlines flight made an emergency landing yesterday (14 January) after smoke was reported in the cockpit.

The flight had been travelling to Bogota, Colombia from New Jersey, when crew reported smoke in the cockpit of the Boeing 757 aircraft and requested an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The crew also reported an engine malfunction.

The flight landed safely, and none of the 146 passengers or eight crew members were injured, according to The Associated Press.
