French investigators examining the crash of a Unions des Transports Africains aircraft on 25 December 2003 have said that overloading was partly to blame.
The Boeing 727 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Cotonou, bound for Beirut, Lebanon. The flight - carrying a total of ten crew members and 151 passengers - reportedly clipped a building at the end of the runway and crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff. Only 21 people survived the crash.
Investigators have said that several factors contributed to the accident, including an excess load, reported Reuters.
