AirAsia expects to reach decision on aircraft order within two months

AirAsia is said to be near to a decision on plans to acquire 80 aircraft, and is expected to select an option within two months.

The Malaysian-based discount airline has received requests for proposals (RFPs) from aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing. The company is now conducting discussions concerning the RFPs, and hopes to reach an agreement within the next 30 to 60 days.

AirAsia currently has a fleet of 18 Boeing 737 aircraft, with plans to increase its fleet to 36 by the end of 2005, reported Reuters.
