United Airlines is reportedly looking at cost cutting measures across the company as part of its emergence from bankruptcy.

The airline is hoping to trim costs as it seeks to arrange bankruptcy exit financing. The airline's request for a USD1.6bn federal loan guarantee was rejected by the Air Transportation Stabilization Board (ATSB) two weeks ago.

United Airlines' chief executive has revealed that the airline is acting on a recently completed study which outlines areas where it operates less efficiently than its competitors.
