United Airlines has reportedly agreed to a settlement to resolve alleged hazardous waste violations.

Inspectors with the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) allegedly found "widespread violations" at the airline's facility at San Francisco International Airport in 1999 and 2001. EPA officials allege the carrier failed to close hazardous waste containers, improperly labelled waste containers and stored waste beyond allowable limits.

United Airlines did not admit wrongdoing but agreed to pay USD850,000. The airline will pay USD550,000 to the EPA and USD300,000 to the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, reported The Associated Press.
