China Eastern Airlines aircraft encounters turbulence, eight injured

A China Eastern Airlines aircraft travelling on a domestic flight encountered turbulence yesterday (12 July) injuring eight passengers and crew members.
The MD-82 aircraft had been travelling from Changsha, in China's Hunan Province, to Shanghai when it encountered a strong current above east China's Zhejiang Province about an hour into the flight. The violent turbulence injured eight people, but fortunately none of the injuries were critical.
Four of the eight people injured were hospitalised for further observation, while the other four people were discharged after medical examinations and treatment.
