US-based carrier Northwest Airlines has reportedly accepted a profit sharing proposal put forward by its pilots.

The Air Line Pilots Association made the proposal as part of a USD200m concessions package offered to the airline on behalf of its members. Northwest Airlines has asked for USD300m worth of concessions from its pilots in an attempt to save USD950m in labour costs.

Other Northwest Airlines workers' unions are keeping a close eye on the negotiations as the pilots are the first group to enter into talks with the airline, reports The Associated Press.
