Akron-Canton Airport in the US has announced that June 2004 has been its most successful month yet with the airport hosting nearly 133,000 origin and destination (O&D) passengers.
The new figure accounts for a 27% increase in passenger numbers over June 2003 and surpassed the airport's previous record total of 114,850 O&D passengers set in August 2003. In the first half of 2004 more than 644,000 passengers have passed through the Ohio airport.
The airport's success has been helped by AirTran Airways beginning a twice-daily service to Boston, Delta Connection adding a sixth Atlanta and an eighth Cincinnati flight and Northwest Airlink adding a seventh round-trip to Detroit.
