Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has signed a joint agreement with communications technology companies SITA Inc and Tenzing to form a new company to equip its aircraft with a new passenger communications suite.

The new company will design and implement mobile phone, laptop and PDA in-flight services which would allow Internet connection and mobile phone calls. The new alliance claims that passengers will be able to use their own devices and be charged by their own phone or Internet service provider using international roaming rates.

A spokesperson for SITA said that the new company's aim is to become the world leader in cabin connectivity products and services.
