Virgin's new US carrier to purchase Airbus aircraft

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Virgin's new US-based low fare airline has reportedly agreed to purchase and lease a number of narrow-body aircraft from Airbus.
The airline has reportedly placed a firm order to purchase 11 Airbus A319 aircraft and seven A320 aircraft from the European aircraft manufacturer. The order is said to be worth around USD1bn based on catalogue prices, however the financial terms of the contract have not been revealed.
The carrier has also formed a agreement with GE Capital Aviation Services to lease 15 more A320 aircraft.
