The Animal Quarantine Center at Indonesia's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has destroyed some vaccines and substances suspected of carrying animal diseases.

Officials burned 300 250ml bottles of Avian Influenza (bird flu) vaccines smuggled from China, a pallet of substances from China classified as Infectious Substances Affecting Humans and 35 kilograms of beef from the US.

However, none of the illegal importers were detained as officers at the centre do not have the authority to detain them, reported the Jakarta Post.
