Low-fare Malaysian carrier AirAsia is reportedly planning a regional expansion into southern China and major cities in mainland Southeast Asia.

The network expansion is expected to cover at least eight new routes to southern China and Southeast Asian mainland cities, including destinations such as Kunming, Chengdu, Hainan and Hailam in China and Phnom Penh, Rangoon and Ho Chi Minh City in Southeast Asia.

The expansion is scheduled to be completed in the second half of the year, The Associated Press reported.
