Explosion on Turkish Airlines aircraft injures cleaners

An explosion inside an aircraft at Istanbul airport in Turkey has injured three cleaners.

The incident took place on 29 June 2004 hours after US President George W. Bush flew out of the airport following a NATO summit.

Police said that the explosion took place onboard a Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft which was being cleaned after a domestic flight. They could not confirm whether the explosion had been caused by a bomb.

A spokesperson for the airline said that the cleaners' injuries were not life threatening, reports Reuters.
