Swiss authorities have today (12 March) launched a criminal investigation into the former chief of Swiss International Air Lines.

Andre Dose recently resigned from his position at the struggling national carrier amid intense media speculation that he could face legal action over a 2001 crash that killed 24 people. Dose is now being investigated on suspicion of negligent homicide and grievous bodily harm, along with two other senior airline staff and the former head of the Swiss Federal Office for Civil Aviation, Andre Auer.

The investigation has been launched after an accident investigation cited an overworked pilot as the cause of the crash, reported The Associated Press.
