American Airlines' mechanics union forms agreement with airline in maintenance work

The mechanics union at American Airlines has reportedly reached an agreement with the carrier to keep some regularly scheduled maintenance work in the US.
The Transport Workers Union - which represents the mechanics - has revealed that it has settled a grievance it filed about a year and a half ago with the airline that some regular maintenance checks must be done in the US by union members, unless federal regulations require that work be performed overseas for safety reasons.
The airline has now said it will typically use its own mechanics at locations of the US for on-call aircraft maintenance and some regular checks, reported Reuters.
