FAA grounds Air East over 2003 crash

Air East, a Long Island charter airline, has been grounded by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in relation to an accident in August 2003.
The agency issued the emergency order due to an investigation into the accident which killed two pilots in Connecticut. The investigation questioned whether proper maintenance was conducted on the aircraft, and also stated that Air East allowed aircraft that were not airworthy to be operated.
The crashed aircraft was allegedly flown 51 times while it was waiting for an engine part to be replaced.
