Delta Air Lines is offering low sale fares to celebrate its new and expanded service at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. From now until 28 March 2004, customers may purchase the discounted fares for travel between JFK and 16 cities throughout the continental US, Latin America and the Caribbean where Delta has new or expanded service starting this spring and summer. All travel must be completed by 31 July 2004, and the fares require a 10-day advance purchase.

Spirit Airlines has reportedly ordered 35 new aircraft from European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. The new aircraft will replace the airline's current fleet of 32 MD-80 aircraft at a cost of USD2bn. The carrier also has agreements to buy up to another 60 Airbus aircraft, and could spend as much as USD5bn in total.

Employees at Delta Air Lines' Technical Operations division have been recognised for their industry-leading safety practices, policies and training by the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The airline is said to be the only major commercial airline to qualify for and receive Star status, OSHA's highest level of recognition for safe workplace practices.

New Orleans Lakefront Airport is to display three World War II aircraft from 29 March 2004. The display, which is being sponsored by Taylor Energy, includes the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator heavy bomber and the North American B-25 Mitchell medium bomber. Paying guests will be able to go for a ride in one of the bombers - which are part of the nonprofit Collings Foundation's Wings of Freedom Tour.
