Air Canada and its Jazz unit have said that its two pilot unions have approved an agreement relating to the distribution of aircraft between the labour groups.

The agreement reportedly calls for the main carrier's 3,500 pilots to fly aircraft of 75 seats or more and Jazz to operate those with 74 seats or less. Trinity Time Investments had made a resolution of the jet allocation between the groups a condition of its CAD650m investment in the insolvent carrier in exchange for a 31% stake.

The agreement was required as part of the carrier's plan to emerge from bankruptcy.
