Singapore Airlines to break record for world's longest flight

Singapore Airlines is set to break its own record for the world's longest distance flight.
The airline currently holds the existing record of 7,971 nautical miles, which it set on 3 February when it launched its nonstop service between Singapore and Los Angeles. The carrier will beat the record by 1,000 miles on 28 June 2004, when it launches its new nonstop service between Singapore and Newark Airport.
The two long distance flights are operated by Airbus A340-500 aircraft.
