Danish airline Maersk Air has reportedly managed to buy the release of five of the six aircraft which were held by United Kingdom authorities after the failure of the UK company Duo Airways.

Duo Airways leased the aircraft from Maersk Air in 2003 when it also took over Maersk Air's UK subsidiaries.

The five aircraft were released after Maersk Air paid Duo Airways' outstanding fees to Birmingham Airport, the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende said in its online edition.

The amount of the outstanding fees was not disclosed.
