European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is expecting to break even by about 2010 on its superjumbo A380 aircraft.

The senior vice president for the A380 programme, Charles Champion, has said that Airbus is planning to increase production of the aircraft from an initial level of one a month to one a week. In order to break even the company would reportedly need to sell around 250 units.

The aircraft - which is currently under construction - is expected to start flight tests in early 2005, and to be in service in 2006, reported Reuters.
