US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is hoping that China will provide the extra orders needed for it to reach its year-end goal of 200 7E7 orders.

Boeing is attending the Airshow China 2004 event and is hoping that China will confirm 80 7E7 orders which would then beat its target of 200. A spokesperson for Boeing said that it would not discuss ongoing negotiations but that it was optimistic about its sales potential in China.

China represents a massive market for the airline industry and Boeing hopes that the 7E7, which is designed to be the most fuel efficient passenger aircraft ever, will appeal to Chinese airlines currently operating Boeing 777 and 767 aircraft, reports Reuters.
