Northwest Airlines opens new China-Japan route

US-based carrier Northwest Airlines has launched a new route linking the southern city of Guangzhou in China to Tokyo, Japan.
Northwest Airlines claims that the new route will incorporate the economic centre of southern China into the airline's global network with six round trip flights a week from the city's new Baiyun International Airport. A spokesperson for the airline said that travellers from Guangzhou now have the option of catching connecting flights in Tokyo to eight cities in the US including New York and San Francisco.
Northwest Airlines now flies 15 services between Asia Pacific countries and already operates services from Shanghai and Beijing to Tokyo, reports Xinhuanet.
