Libra Holidays Group in talks to buy Helios Airways

The Libra Holidays Group and Cypriot carrier Helios Airways are in final negotiations over the sale of the airline for a reported price of CYP5m.

A spokesperson for Helios Airways said that the company was in final discussions with Libra Holidays but the airline has not been sold yet. The spokesperson added that despite rumours to the contrary the airline is profitable. Libra Holidays recently sold its majority stake in the UK-based Excel Airlines.

Helios Airways offers flights between Cyprus the UK, Ireland and Bulgaria and is planning to expand into Poland with flights to Warsaw. The airline said that it would continue with its decision to buy a fourth Boeing 737-800 aircraft, reports the Cyprus Mail.
