Low-cost Irish airline Ryanair has announced that it carried nearly 500,000 more passengers across Europe and the UK in October 2004 than full service carrier British Airways.

Passenger traffic figures for October 2004 released by both airlines show that Ryanair carried 2,462m passengers, 443,000 more than British Airways in the UK and Europe. A spokesperson for Ryanair said that it proves that more and more people are choosing Ryanair due to its low fares, customer service and excellent punctuality.

Ryanair added that British Airways' three fuel surcharges that have been introduced over 2004 have highlighted the price difference between the two airlines, leading customers to Ryanair, reports Luchtzak Aviation.
